Title 9th Korea-China Copyright Forum held in Qingdao, China
Date 2013-09-10

Korea Copyright Commission held the 9th Korea-China Copyright Forum on September 5 in Qingdao, China under the theme of ‘Copyright policies of Korea and China and cooperation plan for trust management’.

The purpose of the forum this year was to exchange substantial information and strengthen the bond between the two nations as an extended discussion over ‘plans to promote private interchange between copyright trusted organizations and copyright holders of both nations’ which had been already discussed at the ‘Korea ?China intergovernmental talks over copyright’ last year. Particularly this year active discussions were seen among concerned parties to seek ways to protect Korean copyrighted materials especially in music industry such as K-POP and promote distribution in China.

‘The Korea-China Copyright Forum’ has been held in both countries alternatively every year since the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea and the NCAC (National Copyright Administration of The People's Republic of China) signed the ‘MOU for exchange and cooperation over copyright’ and another MOU for cooperation over copyright work’ was concluded between the Korea Copyright Commission and the Copyright Protection Center of China in a bid to develop copyright laws and institutions and improve the copyright environment.  Especially, the event marked its ninth anniversary this year.
