Title "Good ⓒ" Campaign Proclamation Ceremony held in Seoul
Date 2014-04-23

The proclamation ceremony of the "Good ⓒ" (ⓒ representing copyright) campaign by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) and 12 agencies including the Korea Copyright Commission (KCC) was held at KT Olleh Square, Gwanghwamun, Seoul, on April 17th. The ceremony was hosted in a solemn atmosphere in reflection of the Sewol tragedy that has happened the previous day.

The objective of this campaign is to build a virtuous circle in the copyright environment by promulgating the value of respectful sharing of the copyright and also by raising public awareness of the pertinent subject, so as to support the government's cultural prosperity policies.

In comparison to the "Good Downloader" campaign, which had been centered round the film industry, the new campaign will exercise its leverage on the content industry across the board, encompassing music, cartoon, game, character, etc.

Moreover, it will go beyond protection-oriented campaigns that promote infringement crackdown and be focused on the value of coexistence, emphasising both creation and sharing.

Meanwhile, celebrities who share the intention of the campaign will be voluntarily participating in the "Good ⓒ" campaign by donating their talents.

After the ceremony, a public campaign advertisement highlighting the role of copyright, which is the key creative resource for the future, was screened.

With this campaign as a momentum, it is expected that previous campaigns for preventing copyright infringement and piracy will be surpassed and communication-oriented campaigns promoting the win-win copyright environment in which creators and users make synergy effect will be introduced and implemented.
